Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, was in command against Punjab University, Chandigarh, as it scored 211 and reduced the latter to 39 for six on the opening day of the two-day semifinals in the North Zone inter-University cricket tournament here on Wednesday.
Gurjyot Singh had taken four wickets for Punjab University, in the innings restricted to 80 overs, but the team was unable to capitalise on the advantage.
V. Mayank took two wickets without conceding a run for Jamia, but Ankur Badwal made a defiant unbeaten 18 to help his team nurse slender hope.
