Rohini in Indian team
RMYC’s Rohini Rau is part of the Indian yachting team that will for the first time take part in the Busan Cup match race, a world class event to be held in South Korean city from October 28 to November 2.
Only 12 teams have been invited for this event and this is also the first time that an Indian women’s team will compete outside the country.
The Indian women’s team had recently won the Asian Regional finals and will be one among ten countries to participate in the Grand finals of the Nations Cup to be held in Brazil in March 2009.
At the Regional final, the women’s team beat the Thailand’s men’s team, which spoke highly of the potential of the Indian team to win medals at the international level.
The competitors race in huge 24 feet Yachts. This is a very spectator-friendly regatta as only two yachts compete at a time.
