Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) retained the title, beating State Bank of Travancore 9-8 in the ‘sudden death’ tie-break, after the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of the regulation period in the All-India Public Sector football tournament here on Thursday.

Kailash Patil put ONGC in the lead with a curling shot from the top of the box in the 34th minute. The bank team equalised in the 16th minute of the second half through a crisp left-footer by B. T. Sarath.

N. Sumesh of State Bank was adjudged the ‘man of the tournament.’
