Handed Australia's Twenty20 captaincy and a $1.1 million contract with IPL team Deccan Chargers within a span of 48 hours, all-rounder Cameron White says the last couple of days are “yet to sink in“.
“It has been a big couple of days,” White told the ‘Australian Associated Press'
The 27-year-old on Friday replaced Michael Clarke as Australia's T20 captain after the latter quit to focus on Test and ODI cricket on Friday. The next day, White was sold for $1.1 million to Deccan Chargers.
“Obviously it sits pretty well. Like the last couple of days, it probably hasn't sunk in. It's obviously a nice thing to happen, the last couple of days, so yeah, what can you say?” he said.
His teammate David Hussey, who got signed for $1.4 million by Kings XI Punjab, said White would prove to be a great captain. “He oozes lots of self-confidence and I think that helps his cricket brain as well,” said Hussey. — PTI
