Indian Overseas Bank retained the Jeppiaar Trophy in the all-India basketball tournament, hosted by JIT, beating ONGC 59-45 on Friday at the JIT campus courts, Sriperumbudur.

IOB was in control of the match throughout. Vineet Ravi Mathew was outstanding for the winner with a personal tally of 19 points.

He was well supported by Harish Korat and Pratham Singh. Fittingly, Vineet was declared ‘man of the match’.

IOB collected a cash prize of Rs.1,25,000, while ONGC received Rs. 75,000.

Earlier, Indian Army took the third spot beating Indian Navy 66-55. Shashant Rai of JIT was adjudged the ‘most valuable player’.

Chief guest Ravi, IG (Vigilance-Aavin), gave away the prizes.

IOB 59 (Vineeth Ravi Mathew 19, Harish Korat 16, Pratham Singh 15) bt ONGC 45 (Murali Krishna 11, Mohit Bhandari 10).

Third place: Indian Army 66 (Sridhar 18, Jairam Jat 14, Arokiya Babu 11) bt Indian Navy 55 (Venkatesh 16, Mandeep Singh 15, Settu 15).
