KOCHI: Left-arm medium-pacer Devanand, with a five-wicket haul, halted Indian Bank's charge and handed Indian Overseas Bank a thrilling six-run win in a Group `B' league match of the 20th BPCL Kochi Refinery all-India cricket tournament at Ambalamugal on Thursday evening.

However, both the Chennai-based banks progressed to the semifinals with two wins each IOB from two matches and Indian Bank from three.

Chasing 222, Indian Bank appeared to be cruising merrily when Devanand suddenly applied the breaks in the 29th over taking three wickets conceding just three runs. .

IOB, Chennai 221 for six in 30 overs (Amit Pathak 40, A.S.K.Varma 44, R.Rajesh four for 45) bt Indian Bank, Chennai 215 for nine in 30 overs (K.J.Gopinath 53, Pramod Das 47, Devanand five for 61) at Ambalamugal.

BDL, Hyderabad 173 in 29.4 overs (Vishnu Vardhan 35, Asgar Pasha three for 35, Moinuddin three for 56) lost to DTDC, Bangalore 174 for seven in 21.1 overs (David Johnson 58, Manoj Sai 32 n.o., Santhosh Yadav five for 49) at Ambalamugal.
