Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade is a doubtful starter for the second Test after scans revealed he had a minor fracture in his cheekbone. Wade suffered the injury during nets on Friday and was subsequently sent for tests.

Wade is the lone wicketkeeper-batsman in the Australian side. If he does not play here, Phillip Hughes, a specialist top-order batsman, is expected to do duty behind the stumps.

Team doctor Peter Bruker, however, said the injury was not serious and added Wade had been cleared to play the Test if there is no “excessive bruising or swelling overnight”. — Special Correspondent
