New Delhi: India was assured of two medals at the World Cadet boxing championships after Vikas Yadav (48kg) and Vipin Kumar (50kg) on Friday advanced to the semifinals at Baku, Azerbaijan.

However, Parmod Kumar lost to Russian Yevgenyi Averin 25-15 in the 52kg quarterfinals.

But that was to be the sole disappointment for India in the morning session as Vikas won 18-12 against local favourite Mamishzade Elvin. Vipin, meanwhile, outpunched Ukrainian Borys Storoznenko 22-7. — PTI
