KOLKATA: The Indian challenge in the team championship at the second Meteksan World Cup archery championship at Antalya in Turkey came to an end on Friday.

The men's recurve team, comprising Rahul Banerjee, Tarundeep Rai and Jayanta Talukdar, lost 213-214 to China in the pre-quarterfinals while the women's recurve side, consisting of Dola Banerjee, Sushma and Reena Kumari, went down 207-208 against Mexico.

According to information reaching here, the Indian women's compound team silver medallist in the first World Cup at Porec (Croatia) last month went out in the quarterfinals after a first-round bye.

The trio of Jhano Hansdah, Sakro Besra and Manjudha Soy was no match for the Mexican side, losing 211-219.

Jayanta Talukdar, the gold-medallist at Porec, crashed out of the individual recurve event in the quarterfinals and eventually finished fifth overall.

Dola Banerjee also went out in the quarterfinals and ended up seventh. Special Correspondent
