The Indian girls continued to assert their class as they beat the seventh-seeded Philippines 3-0, dropping only two games in the whole match, in the quarterfinals of the Asia-Oceania World Junior under-14 tennis championship in Malaysia on Thursday.

The entry into the semifinals confirmed a World Group spot for the third-seeded Indian team, in the competition to be staged in Prostejov, Czech Republic, in August.

The results (quarterfinals): India bt Philippines 3-0 (Pranjala Yadlapalli bt Monica Therese Cruz 6-1, 6-0; Mihika Yadav bt Meredity Jones 6-0, 6-0; Sruta Kirti Gunuganti and Pranjala Yadlapalli bt Monica Therese Cruz and Rafaella Jean Villanueva 6-0, 6-1).
