The lone Indian to cross the pre-quarterfinal round, Aditya Jagtap went down to top-seeded Amr Khaled Khalifa of Egypt in straight games in the quarterfinals of the World junior squash championships being held in Quito (Ecuador).
From the first point Amr kept the sixth-seeded Aditya pinned to the back court and did not give him the freedom to play his strokes. Aditya fought for every point but eventually went down 5-11, 2-11, 2-11.
The Indian boys will feature next in the team events which start on August 2.
Earlier Aditya, along with five players from Egypt and one each from Pakistan and England, made it to the last eight.
Ravi Dixit's hopes ended in the round of 16 where he was ousted by giant-killer Mohamed El Sherbini of Egypt. Sherbini defeated third-seeded Lucas Serme in a thrilling five-setter in the third round.
