: The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) plans to field a 20-member Indian team for the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports (IWAS) World Games to be staged in Dubai from December 1 to 8.

It may be recalled that physically challenged athletes were unable to participate in any international competition as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) had followed suit after the Indian government had suspended the PCI.

In an interesting follow-up, the IPC had clarified to the government recently that the entries could be entertained for international events, including the Olympic qualifiers, if they were made by PCI and validated by the Union Sports Ministry. — Special Correspondent
