The IMG Rally, the fourth round of the Indian National TSD Rally Championship, will be held here on December 8.
A Time-Speed-Distance rally — the emphasis here is placed more on navigation, rather than speed — is seen as the ideal way to introduce motorsport to the casual fan.
The driver and the navigator are required to maintain a stipulated average speed in order to reach a checking point at the allocated time. If the vehicle reaches the spot either late or early, points are deducted.
Perumal said that around 43 entries had been received in the four-wheeler category. Around 12 riders would compete in the two-wheeler category.
A special ‘Green Run’ will be held in memory of Naveen Kanth, the joint secretary of the Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC), who passed away recently at the age of 38.
“His death left us in shock; we could not digest the news. The drivers referred to him as the ‘Pillar of the KMSC’. This is a terrible loss,” Perumal said. — Sports Reporter
