Admitting that he had “a bad series,” West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo says that he will be a better and stronger person henceforth.

“I let my team down,” lamented the visiting side’s skipper, after losing the final ODI to India by five wickets at the Green Park here on Wednesday. India won the series 2-1.

Bravo added that the difference between the two teams was that the opposition batsmen converted their fifties into hundreds and led the team home. In contrast, the West Indies batting lacked confidence.

Bravo also said that his side missed three key players in Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Kemar Roach, who were indisposed due to injuries. Moreover, Jason Holder pulled his hamstring after bowling his first over in the decider.

Bravo added that even though 263 was an above-par score, the track became easier for the batsmen as the match progressed. Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant hundred hardly made his job easier.

“As a captain, it’s difficult to set a field for Dhawan,” said Bravo.

Dhawan, though, deflected some praise towards Yuvraj Singh, terming his knock as “beautiful.”

“It’s pleasing to bat with Yuvi paaji . I have learnt lots of skills from him,” said the opener.

Though Rohit Sharma failed to match Dhawan’s effort on Wednesday, the latter was asked on the reasons behind their successful association at the top.

“My friendship with Rohit helps since we share a high comfort level. We are technically sound and can play the new ball well,” said the Delhi lad proudly.
