Hyderabad Globe Football Club won the Jayany Shaschak all-India invitation football tournament in Miraj (Maharashtra) defeating Karnataka State Police 2-0 in the final late on Sunday evening.
Globe dominated the game from the word go earning five corner-kicks in the first 10 minutes. Captain Alamdar Raza (leading in the absence of the injured Saleh) scored of a beautiful header off a pass from the wily midfielder A. R. Naidu in the 19th minute.
In the 35th minute Nigerian recruit and striker Jackson was in the scoring act, latching on to a neat pass from winger Syed Khaleel.
In the second half the Karnataka outfit put up a better display but its forward-line was thwarted by the efficient defence in Tattam Naidu, Bharat, Syed Khaleel, Rakesh Kumar and Digamber Rao.
Globe goalkeeper Mohd Asif came up with another impressive display saving two good efforts from the rival.
The winner was richer by Rs. 50,000 and special prizes were given to Globe's Mohd Asif (best goalkeeper), Alamdar Raza (best midfielder) and A.R. Naidu for being the highest scorer of the event.
Osmania University inter-college badminton championship for men will be held at CBIT College in Gandipet here on February 24 and 25.
The teams should report to Mr. Shyam Mohan Reddy, organising secretary, at 9.00 a.m. on the first day.

SBH wins Cup
State Bank of Hyderabad won the Deccan T-20 Cup cricket tournament defeating Dell in the final by four wickets at Vijayanand Gardens near here.
Mr. Nagaraj, AGM, SBH, and Mr. Purushotam Aggarwal, HCA Executive Committee member, gave away the prizes.
The scores: Dell 115 for seven (J. Anshulal 36) lost to SBH 119 for six.
Ajay hits century
Ajay's knock of 106 helped Everest Cricket Club defeat Kondapalli CC by 123 runs, while New Everest CC defeated Welcome CC by seven wickets in the Krishna District Cricket Association ‘A' division cricket tournament for the Power League at Vijayawada on Monday.
Everest CC made 291 for five in 45 overs and in reply, Kondapalli CC made 168 in 43 overs.
Meanwhile at the ACA Stadium in Mangalagiri, Welcome CC scored 153 in 48.2 overs and New Everest CC reached the target in 24 overs after losing three wickets.
Welcome CC 153 in 48.2 overs (Harsha 47, Hussain 36, Lenin three for 27, A.J. Praveen two for 37) lost to New Everest CC 154 for three in 24 overs (Ramesh 57, M.S.K. Prasad 35).
