HYDERABAD: The 32-day winter season will start from November 5 and end on February 26, 2007, according to the HRC's new prospectus. The advertised stakes will be Rs. 6,09,57,500, the highest ever in the club's history and marks a 27.79 % rise over the previous season and trophies will be worth Rs. 14,00,000.
Three new handicap sweepstakes races framed in all three categories with Rs. 5 lakhs added for each, will encourage local owners who buy good horses at this centre. Under a new clause (not applicable to sweepstakes), if the number of acceptors is less than four in Category I Terms, less than five in Cat. I handicaps/Cat. II and less than six in Cat. III, such race(s) will be declared void.
In the event of such race(s) being declared void, the acceptors entered will be eligible as subsequent qualifiers provided the time for such entries has not lapsed. Not more than two divisions on any race day will be allowed. Another major change is that penalties in Category I terms races have been modified to make racing more competitive.
An innovation for the coming season will be the use of Steriline Racing Rails for the first time in India. The said railing, used worldwide, has been found to be very safe for horses and riders. It has been imported from Australia.
