Melbourne: Former Australia cricketer Glenn McGrath’s hometown Narromine has decided to honour the pace bowler by erecting a bronze statue at a local park.

The Narromine Council has commissioned sculptor Brett Garling to create the statue which would be unveiled in Narromine’s Tom Perry Park on June 6.

McGrath, whose nickname is Pigeon, went to public and high schools in Narromine and played his early cricket there until he shifted to Sydney.

He retired from international cricket in April 2007. — PTI
