Haryana and Uttar Pradesh qualified to the tier-I of the National junior football for the B.C. Roy Trophy winning their respective tier-II semifinal matches at Cuttack on Thursday, according to information received here.

Haryana beat Sikkim 2-0 while Uttar Pradesh prevailed over traditionally strong Kerala 3-0 in the other match.

Both the teams will feature in the tier-I or the elite stage of the tournament, which has the top-16 teams of the country playing for the title, in the next season. The two will also play the final on Saturday to decide the tier-II topper. — Principal Correspondent
