Bangalore: Hansa Narasimhan, captain of the USA Venice Cup winning team in Shanghai 2007, has specially come down from USA to participate in the Indian Winter Bridge Nationals and formed a team consisting of five other Indians.
Her team is in the top position in Section A with a score of 214 vps out of a possible 275, after 11 rounds. Four more rounds are still to be played to decide the 16 qualifiers from this group to the next stage.
In Group B the leaders are Chennai’s Anuttara which includes the new president-elect of the Bridge Federation of India N. R. Kirubakara Moorthy, the well known industrialist.
The other important office bearers who have been elected in the BFI elections held here are Arijit Guha of Kolkata as Honorary Secretary and Dipak Poddar of Mumbai as the Honorary Treasurer.
The top eight teams from the two groups contesting for the Ashok Ruia Trophy are: (after 11 rounds, 4 to be palyed)
