Two new meet records were set on the second and penultimate day of the all-India inter-Railway athletic meet at the Nehru stadium on Thursday. Gurmeet Singh of Northern Railway clocked 1:23:05.84 seconds to win the 20-km walk with a new record. He bettered the previous mark of Ashok Patel (1:32:31.41) set two years ago.

The day's other record came from Vikash Poonia of North Central Railway in the men's discus. His effort of 55.34m made a marginal improvement over Shakthi's 55.30m achieved in 1992.

Soji Mathew (WR) completed a distance double with his 5,000m triumph — having won the 10,000m on Wednesday.

Southern Railway with nine gold, six silver and seven bronze medals leads the rest. Western Railway (6g, 7s, 8b) is in second spot.
