KOLKATA: Rookie Gurjeet Singh of Sports Authority of India maintained his string of upsets by ousting teammate and title-aspirant Rahul Berlia 3-1 to enter the quarterfinals of the Bengal Rowing Club State snooker championship here on Thursday.

In another match, eighth-seed Aamer Hussain recovered from 0-2 down to beat Nilangshu Haldar 3-2.

State billiards champion Akram Khan slowly got into the grove to be in line for a double by edging out David Bose 3-2 in the pre-quarterfinal matches.
