KOZHIKODE: All the five Woman Grandmasters in the 35th National women’s ‘B’ chess championship, which opened at Hotel Sana Tower here on a wet Friday evening, posted victories.

On the top five boards, Nisha Mohota, Swati Ghate, Mary Ann Gomes, Eesha Karvade and Aarthie Ramaswamy — the top five seeds in that order — defeated Pooja Kanth, G. Sandhya, A. Akshaya, Supriya Joshi and Mahashwetha respectively.

The seventh seed Saimeera was held to a draw by P.V. Nanditha.
