CHENNAI: As expected, Globe Trotters confirmed its spot in the semifinals of the TNCA first division on Wednesday, which was the final day of the league phase.

Trotters, which gained five points for the first-innings lead to finish fourth, is drawn to play Grand Slam at CPT-IP. The other semifinal will pit Vijay against Jolly Rovers at RKM-Vivekananda.

Both matches are scheduled to begin on Saturday.

In eleventh round action, Rovers was denied the first-innings lead at IIT-Chemplast. Young Stars, thanks to Subramania Siva (125, 172b, 20x4), Wilkins Victor (61) and S.R. Ganesh Kumar (61), held off Rovers for sufficiently long to ensure it wouldn't be bowled out. With the first innings unresolved, the points were shared.

Vijay had no such trouble in terminating resistance. Although T. Dushyanth made 137 for Southern Railway, capping a prolific season with the bat, J. Kaushik's six wickets (five bowled) guaranteed Vijay the first-innings lead.

K. Shree Vasudeva Das had time to make 133 (132b, 18x4, 1x6) for Grand Slam, which had already secured the lead against India Pistons. IOB meanwhile claimed the two Indian Bank wickets it needed for five points to finish its season on a positive note.

Not so fortunate were UFCC (T. Nagar) and Southern Railway, who finished 11 {+t} {+h} and 12 {+t} {+h} respectively and were relegated to the second division as a result.
