An all India FIDE-rated chess tournament will be organised by Cyber Chess Academy, in association with Ranga Reddy District Chess Association, from April 22 to 28 at Suchitra Academy near here.

Several International Masters, including reigning junior National champion Arvind Chidambaram, internationals P. Konguvel, V. Koshy and Asian gold medallist J. Saranya will be vying for top honours in the event which carries a total prize money of Rs. 2 lakh with the winner getting Rs. 51,000.

Guzzlers XI wins

Guzzlers XI recorded a nine-wicket win over Lahari XI in the Friendship Cup corporate cricket tournament organised by Veterans Cricket Association of Hyderabad.

Lahari XI 209 for six (Nitesh 38, Rajnikanth 36, Kannan three for 33) lost to Guzzlers XI 210 for one (Navdeep Singh 69, Azhar 78 not out).

Micromax 165 for nine (Sanjeev Reddy 67, Venkat Rao 48, R. A. Swaroop four for 25) bt Combined Corporates XI 136 (Seshagiri 35, Suresh Rajan 30, R. A. Swaroop 30, Pravith four for 15, Rohit three for 44).

JJ Nagar wins

JJ Nagar defeated Red Hills 2-1 in the Peter Thangaraj memorial invitation football tournament organized by District Sports Authority of Hyderabad at Gymkhana Grounds here.

For the winner, Akshay and Franklin scored one each, while Syed Nadeem netted for Red Hills

GHMC summer camps

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation summer coaching camps will be conducted from April 24 to May 31 in 54 disciplines at about 1800 grounds in and around the twin cities, according to a press release.

The camps are open for boys and girls in the age group of six to 18 years in the morning hours.
