HYDERABAD: The Y.S. Jayamma Raja Reddy eighth Federation Cup women's hockey championship, scheduled to be held at Pulivendla Junior College Grounds (Kadapa) from January 19 to 25, will for the first time have a winner's prize (Rs. 15,000), according to A. Prasanna Kumar Reddy, organising secretary.

Mr. Reddy, in a press release, informed that the runner-up would be richer by Rs. 5000 and there were also cash awards of another Rs. 10,000 for fine individual performances.

Renuka Lakshmi, joint secretary of Indian Women's Hockey Federation, will be the tournament director. The matches will be played on league-cum-knock-out basis.

Mr. Reddy said that the event, sponsored by YSR Foundation, would be formally inaugurated by Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, MP, on Friday. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be the chief guest for the valedictory function.
