VISAKHAPATNAM: Host East Coast Railway men won the all-India Railway volleyball championship, beating last year's runner-up South Central Railway, Secunderabad 3-1 (25-27, 25-22, 25-23, 25-22) in the final at Bhubaneswar on Friday night.

Western Railway, Mumbai beat ICF, Chennai 3-0 to take third place in the men's section.

Last year's runner-up Central Railway, Mumbai claimed the women's title, prevailing over holder Southern Railway, Chennai 3-2 in the last semifinal league match. Central, helped by crowd favourite Nimi Francis's 18 service aces and accurate setting by captain Vaishali won at 25-16, 20-25, 19-25, 25-16, 15-13. Eastern Railway, Kolkota defeated Western Railway 3-1 in the women's losing semifinalists match. Southern captain and international K. Geeta Raju was declared best player for her excellent show. D. Ramsiva of ECoR won the Suresh Chandra Sahu memorial prize for the best player in men's section.
