Defending champion East Bengal registered the second successive win drubbing Eastern Railway FC 4-1 in the championship leg of the Calcutta Football League’s premier division at Kalyani Stadium on Tuesday.

Robin Singh opened the scoring process early in the seventh minute after availing a cross from Baljit Sahni.

New Australian striker Andrew Borisic doubled the lead at the half-hour mark when he was reached by another provision from Baljit. East Bengal found two more goals after the break.

The third goal, happening in the 54th minute, was a suicidal one as Eastern Railway defender Pervez Alam saw his attempted clearance going in after deflecting off colleague Avik Guha. Harmanjot Khabra scored the fourth goal in the 85th minute to end the scoring process for East Bengal.

Bapan Bera reduced the margin for Eastern Railway in the 73rd minute. East Bengal had six points from two wins while Eastern Railway remained on one point from three matches.

The result:

East Bengal 4 (Robin Singh 7, Andrew Borisic 30, Avik Guha 54 (own), Harmanjot Khbra 85) bt Eastern Railway 1 (Bapan Bera 73).

East Bengal Club rode on Arindam Das’s quick-fire 106 to beat Bhowanipur Club by 47 runs in the quarterfinals of the CAB Senior knock-out tournament here on Tuesday.

In another two matches, Town Club beat Sporting Union by four wickets while Y.M.C.A College Street Branch beat Shambazar Club by eight runs.
