Fine batting by Devinder Lochan (96) and Karan Negi (86), who had a 136-run partnership for the opening wicket, helped Malik Sports to a 14-run victory over DDCA President's XI in a pre-quarterfinal match of the 38th all-India Goswami Ganesh Dutt memorial cricket tournament at the St. Stephen's College on Saturday.
Chasing 275 for victory, DDCA President's XI mustered 260, thanks mainly to an unbeaten century by Sandeep Raj Kaushik. Kshitiz Sharma tried to clinch the issue in the climax as he hammered six 6s and five 4s in his unbeaten 65, but the bowlers of Malik Sports succeeded in quelling the chase. Vishu Tomar was the most successful bowler with two wickets.
