NEW DELHI: Delhi entered three finals of the North Zone inter-State badminton championship while Chandigarh and Punjab set up a surprise title-clash in the boys’ section at the Karnail Singh Stadium here.

Delhi’s title-defence in the men’s, women’s and girls’ sections stayed on course after convincing semifinal victories. However, in the junior boys’ section, last-year’s runner-up Delhi went down to Chandigarh 2-0 while Punjab knocked out defending champion Haryana 2-1.

The results (semifinals): Men: Delhi bt Chandigarh 3-0 (Tanveer Gill bt Oscar Bansal 15-21, 21-8, 21-19; Himanshu Kharbanda bt Pankaj Nathani 21-17, 19-21, 21-17; Davinder Dhillon / Tanveer Gill bt Ashish Sharma / Pankaj Nathani 21-14, 21-14).

Women: Delhi bt Punjab 2-0 (Mohita Sahdev bt Sehar Chadha 21-10, 21-15; Gauri Chopra / Meenakshi Nair bt Sehar and Amritpal 21-11, 21-17.

Boys: Chandigarh bt Delhi 2-0 (Oscar Bansal bt Abhishek Ahlawat 13-21, 21-16, 21-10; Oscar Bansal / Ankur bt Abishek / Gauranshu Chopra 12-21, 24-22, 23-21); Punjab bt Haryana 2-1 (Gurbaksh Singh lost to Ravi Singla 14-21, 21-19, 12-21; Raj Kumar / Pranav Chopra bt Ashish / Rohit 21-6, 23-21; Raj Kumar bt Kritesh 21-13, 21-12).
