Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Super Cup, an all-new multi-sports corporate tournament, will be held here from February 3 to March 24.
Staged by CSK and presented by Aircel, the Super Cup will be an annual event. The tournament will feature competitions in T20 cricket, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and snooker. As many as 38 corporate houses will take part.
Unveiling the trophy at a pleasant ceremony along with CSK’s bowling coach Andy Bichel here on Friday, the franchise coach Stephen Fleming said the “aim was to unearth young talent and promote the game among the corporates.”
Talking about CSK’s successes in its eventful five-year journey so far, he said at a press conference, “This would not have been possible without the fans.”
He added, “This initiative by CSK is intended to encourage the spirit of sportsmanship and competition among participants and fans. We are also providing a platform to promote other sports at par with cricket and this will definitely strengthen our bond with the fans.”
Among the teams taking part are TCS, HDFC Bank, Coke, Samsung, Infosys, HSBC, Kotak Mahindra, India Cements, Vodafone, The Hindu , ITC, Tata Capital, India Pistons and the Standard Chartered Bank.
Chandrabhan, GM-Marketing, India Cements, said, “Through the initiative, the key decision makers of today and tomorrow will come together to compete on the sports field, meet like-minded people in an informal setting and this can be a harbinger of many new business ideas.”

A former Ranji and Duleep Trophy cricketer, State coach and chief selector in women’s cricket, P.K. Dharmalingam was recently conferred with the ‘Gem of India’ award in recognition of his services for the promotion of cricket.
The presentation by the Union Minister of State for minority affairs, Ninong Ering happened at the All India Achievers Conference held in New Delhi recently.
Dharmalingam, who has been running the ‘Dharma’s Cricket Academy’ for over three decades now, was the coach of the Madras University team the year it won the all-India Rohinton Baria Trophy. He was also the coach of the Tamil Nadu team which won the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy.
K. Anirudh’s four-wicket haul helped King Star CA to a two-wicket win over AVM CA in the Skylab CAC u-14 cricket tournament played here.
