Well-connected to west coast

Container Corporation of India Ltd. (Concor), India's largest rail-linked inland container depot operator, is gearing up its infrastructure here to expand its network to ICD locations in South, West and North India to link the recently inaugurated International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) with them.

As the corporation prepares to launch its service to ICTT, it has taken the lead in announcing the tariffs between the ICTT and the various ICD locations such as Chennai, Tuticorin, Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad.

The corporation had earlier proposed starting a new service to evacuate containers from the ICTT premises to the Cochin Port Trust-run Container Freight Station on Willingdon Island. This was aimed at decongesting the new terminal.

The decision to launch the new service was taken at the request of the Cochin Port Trust and terminal operator DP World.

Substantial delay in the processing of papers for loading containers at the new terminal was among the teething problems faced by the ICTT.
