: Skipper Huzefa M. Patel (four for 24) and K.N. Sounderamani (three for nine) struck in tandem as host Coimbatore got the better of Tiruchi by 32 runs to enter the final of the TNCA senior inter-district cricket tournament, for the S.S. Rajan Trophy, at SNR Sons College grounds here on Thursday.

Batting first, the host struggled from the onset, tottering at 13 for three at one stage. However, S. Dinesh Kumar played a crucial knock of 47 to steer his team to a respectable 163.

Later, the in-form off-spinner Huzefa and medium-pacer Sounderamani came up with brilliant spells to skittle the visitor out for 131 in less than 31 overs.

At Kancheepuram, G. Babu’s ton helped Kancheepuram DCA register a 91-run win over District Cricket Association of Tirupur.

At Kancheepuram: Kancheepuram 260 for nine in 50 overs (G. Babu 104, A. Ganesh Kumar 47, Abhishek Tanwar 38, A. Mohammed Safiq three for 66) bt Tirupur 169 for eight in 50 overs (A. Mohammed Safiq 32 n.o., S. Omesh four for 36).

Prabhu’s brace helped Pandiyas Hockey Club, Dindigul score a 2-1 win over Reserve Line Sports Club, Madurai in the 14th State-level hockey tournament at Madurai on Thursday.
