CHENNAI: The honour of winning the first trophy, Ruia Silver, out of four in contention in the 47th edition of National bridge championship went to Chennaionline team.
Thirty-three teams, who could not enter the last 32 of the Ruia Gold, contested this event. Chennaionline, consisting of L. Ravichandran, A.S. Viswanathan, Madhu Viswanathan, Shyam Sundar, C. Rangarajan and Pradeep Kulkarni, scored 199 Victory Points out of possible 250 VPs. The next six placings with VPs indicated in brackets are under:2. SCPCC 190 (VPs), 3. Biswanath 187 (VPs), 4. The Kamalakar Trophy for IMP Pairs event was claimed by S.V. Apte and S.B. Vichare who scored 190 VPs.

Meanwhile the quarterfinal stage has been reached in Ruia Gold. The unseeded L.J. Thomas team of Chennai continued its dream run by beating Alok Daga's IV in the pre-quarterfinals.
Two more unseeded teams - Pankaj Kapadia and Basu Mazumdar's IV - also entered the last eight.
