Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced 30 probables for the ICC Champions Trophy to be played in India.
``The squad would be trimmed to 15 by the end of this month. The deadline for submission of the squad is Septe,ber 7 and hopefully we would be able to comply with the ICC advice well in advance,'' PCB director (board operations) Saleem Altaf said.
``The list of 30 probables has been submitted by the selection committee in consultation with the National Selection Committee,'' Altaf added.
The injured pace trio of Shoaib Akhtar, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Mohammad Asif, who have missed Pakistan's tour of England so far, were named in the provisional list, which also includes batsmen Yasir Hameed, Bazid Khan and Asim Kamal.
The selectors have also included uncapped Shahid Yousuf, Tahir Khan, Abdul Rehman, Mansoor Amjad, Akhtar Ayub and Samiullah Khan Niazi.
Pakistan is grouped with South Africa, New Zealand and a qualifier. Pakistan, whose best performance was a semifinal finish in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2000, will open its campaign on October 17 at Jaipur against a qualifier.
It will then meet New Zealand on October 25 at Mohali, which will also host Pakistan's final league game against South Africa on October 27.
