Double for Nandan Bal

Former National champion Nandan Bal bagged a double by wining the singles as well as doubles titles in the 45 plus age group in the GVK-AITA 10th senior (veteran) national tennis championship here on Saturday. Keshav Perumal won the singles title in the 65 plus age group when his opponent S.K. Rednam had to retire hurt after the score read 2-0 in the fist set.

St. Anthonys FC wins

St. Anthonys FC Gandhinagar defeated King Koti FC 5-3 via the tie breaker in the Susai (Sr) memorial football tournament at Trimulgherry ground here on Saturday. At full time the teams were locked goalless. In the tie breaker Anbu Kumar, Abel, Anand Kumar, Khayyum and Jayant scored for St.Anthonys while only Akbar, Hyder Ali and Akbar Ali could score for King Koti.

Chinappa appointed advisor

Professor P.Chinappa Reddy, former Professor of Physical Education, Sri Krishna Deva Raya University, has been appointed as the Technical Advisor (Sports) to the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Prof Reddy will take charge on Monday and will function from the SAAP office. He will take over the post from Mr. A.S.V. Prasad.

Osmania boxing trials

Osmania University will conduct selection trials to pick its boxing team for the all-India inter- university boxing championships.
