: The Indian team’s preparatory camp for the Australia series will commence at the National Cricket Academy here on Saturday.

The major chunk of players arrived on Friday evening, with the coaching and support staff — led by Duncan Fletcher — having landed earlier. All 15 members of the side (named for the first two Tests) are expected to be in attendance at the three-day camp.

Meanwhile, over a dozen young bowlers — nine seamers and six spinners — have been roped in to bowl at the batsmen. The 15, who participated in fitness sessions in the afternoon, were chosen after country-wide trials held last year followed by further training at the BCCI’s regional academies.

The four-Test series is scheduled to begin in Chennai on February 22. The pre-series camp should provide the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashoke Dinda and Shikhar Dhawan — all hoping for their Test debuts — an opportunity to hone their skills. — Sports Reporter
