Vidya Pillai clinched the bronze medal in the world ladies snooker championship held at Sofia, Bulgaria recently.

In the league stage, Vidya overcame Nita Clarkson (New Zealand) 3-0, Kirstin Coun (Belgium) 3-0, Claudia Weber (Switzerland) 3-0 and Madeleine Jeanne Young (South Africa) 3-0.

In the knock-out stages, Vidya defeated Roberta Cutajar (Malta) 4-1 in the pre- quarterfinals, Amornrat Uamduang (Thailand) 4-1 in the quarterfinals before losing to the eventual champion Wendy Jans (Belgium) 4-0 in the semifinals.

Rafath Habib and Nadeem Ahmed reached the pre-quarterfinals of the World Masters snooker championship also held in Sofia.
