BANGALORE: Jatin Bisht's individual brilliance propelled ONGC to a 3-1 win over Malabar United as the Second Division I-League final round entered its third set of matches here on Saturday.
The influential midfielder set the ball for ONGC's first goal with a perfect cross from the right, then curled a flag kick into the far post for the second, and volleyed from 40 yards out to catch the entire defence napping for the third.
ONGC jumped into an early lead with Bisht floating into the box following a corner kick and Nigerian stopper Bolaji Olibiyi rising above the defence to head home.
In the 26th minute, Bisht curled in his flag kick from the right into the far post. In the 43rd, Malabar's Firos bent low enough to direct a Vijesh Kumar cross from the right into the goal. ONGC nailed the third when Bisht volleyed from 40 yards out on the run.
The results: ONGC 3 (Olibiyi, Bisht-2) bt Malabar United 1 (Firos).
Oil India 2 (Chetia-2) drew with Sesa Goa 2 (Gurung, Fernandes). — Special Correspondent
