Five youngsters from India will get a chance to meet Germany’s Thomas Muller at Bayern Munich FC in August as part of the week-long Bajaj Allianz junior football camp.

The South Zone competitions of the camp, to pick the lone player from the zone for the Germany trip, will be held in July and over 8000 boys from 700 schools will be seen in action.

“This time, teams from Kerala and Karnataka will figure in the South Zone event and the zonal final will most probably be held in Kochi towards the end of July,” said Saiju Philip, Kerala Head, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance which is organising the event along with the Kerala Football Association, here on Wednesday.

Matches, for boys in the 14 to 16 years age group, will first be held at the district and then at the State level. The South Zone final carries a prize of Rs 1.25 lakh.

The camp is organised in association with Allianz, the official partner of Bayern Munich, and the best player, selected by a panel headed by former Indian captain Jo Paul Ancheri, will get a chance to go to Germany. — Special Correspondent
