Bangalore: It was literally a clash between men and the boys. In the end, youth triumphed as Bangalore Blues defeated Rangers 3-1 to clinch the Dowlath Khan Cup for ‘C' division teams at the Football Stadium here on Friday evening.

Kiran Kumar's twin strikes to put Blues past the tiring Rangers in the final that fizzled out as a contest in the second half. In the initial minutes Blues did weave in a few moves upfront but the wily and experienced Rangers nearly sprung a surprise before Inderjith failed to get past custodian Saravanan.

Blues immediately made amends as Shiva Kumar's swirling cross from the right flank bounced in past the tiring Rangers' custodian in the 33rd minute.

Rangers briefly found a spark in the 37th minute as Inderjith slotted in the equaliser.

An unmarked Kiran Kumar weighed in with a deft sortie and his left footer helped Blues move ahead in the 47th minute.

Kiran was again in the picture as he latched on to Madan's pass in the 64th minute to score Blues' third goal. — Principal Correspondent
