Mohun Bagan outplayed Aryan Club 4-1 to begin its championship leg campaign of the Calcutta Football League premier division on a strong note here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday.

Bagan dominated the proceedings and scored twice in the first-half. Nigerian striker Okolie Odafa opened the scoring in the 35th minute before young Manish Bharghav doubled the lead in the first-half injury time. Australian striker Tolgay Ozbey scored the third goal for Bagan in the 66th minute when he nodded home a centre from the team’s new recruit Quinton Jacobs.

Aryan Club Pulled one back in the 89th through Mohidul Mollik before Mehrajuddin Wadoo ended the scoring process, netting Bagan’s fourth goal in the injury time.

The result: Mohun Bagan 4 (Okolie Odafa 35, Manish Bharghav 45+1, Tolgay Ozbey 66, Mahrajuddin Wadoo 90+2) bt Aryan Club 1 (Mohidul Mollik 89).

Taltala DS wins big

Taltala DS trounced Moitree Sansad 19-0 in an IFA women’s football league match here on Monday. Kakon Bose, Rakhi Koyal and Rozina Khatun scored four goals each while Sangita Basphor struck thrice to be the prominent scorers for the winner. Sarojini Naidu OSC and G.C. Roy Memorial FC played a goalless draw in another match on the same day.
