While its fate in the I-League hovered in the realms of uncertainty, Mohun Bagan did well in the local circuit beating Bhowanipore Club 2-1 in the premier division of Calcutta Football League.

The match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday saw Okolie Odafa putting Mohun Bagan ahead in the second minute from a penalty before Sanju Kumar found the equaliser for Bhowanipore towards of the end of first half.

Stanley Okoroigwe found the decider for Mohun Bagan off a fine effort in the 57th minute.

Hussain claims title

Ameer Hussain won his maiden title in the State senior snooker tournament has he returned the best performance in the semifnal league on Wednesday.

Award for Claudius

The Bengal Hockey Association has decided to confer its lifetime achievement award to legendary Leslie Claudius, who has three Olympic hockey gold medals in his closet.

The award will be presented to the ailing hockey maestro at his residence here on Friday, according to a BHA release.
