Army Supply Corps, Bangalore defeated Rural Development Trust Hockey Academy 3-0 in the boys’ final while RDT Hockey Academy thrashed Tamil Nadu’s Rajiv Gandhi Hockey Academy (Koyampet) 6-0 in the girls’ final of the Fr. Vincent Ferrer memorial invitation hockey championship that concluded at Anantapur on Tuesday.

Astro-turf at Anantapur

RDT programme director Moncho Ferrer said the trust would lay an astro-turf at the present hockey stadium soon. Speaking at the closing ceremony of Fr. Vincent Ferrer invitation hockey tournament, he said a pavilion would also be constructed.

Former India international Jude Felix felt happy on the progress hockey made at Anantapur and congratulated RDT for promoting various sports. SAI coach Madhukar felt the provision should be made enabling degree students joining the academies run by RDT.

Donkena Anusha, who had won a silver medal in the 84kg category with a lift of 247.5kgs, at the junior National powerlifting championship at Amaravathi (Maharashtra) recently, has been congratulated by District Sports Development Officer P. Ramakrishna and her coach Venkat Rao.
