THRISSUR: Sanjay struck twice in the first half as Golden Threads, Ernakulam, blanked Kannur District Police 5-0 and marched to the quarterfinal of the 34th Kerala State inter-club football championship at the Corporation Stadium here on Friday night.

Sanjay’s goals came in the second and 26th minutes. Onome (40th), Ashbhai (57th) and Harrison (87th) scored the other goals.

Earlier, Titanium, Thiruvananthapuram, bounced back after conceding an early goal and defeated Sri Vyasa College (Thrissur) 2-1 and also made the last-eight grade. K.M. Prasad gave Vyasa the lead in the third minute but Titanium’s Ebin Rose scored the equaliser in the 12th minute.

Vyasa was down to ten men when its Firoz was sent off with two yellows in the 69th minute and Cleetus, using the opportunity well, struck the Titanium match-winner three minutes from the end. — Principal Correspondent
