Shooting camp

The Coimbatore Rifle Club will conduct its sixth summer coaching camp for school children at the CRC shooting range in PRS grounds from May 12 to 19.

The children will be taught the basics on target shooting and also specialised training in air weapon and later in rifle and pistol shooting.

Manikandan, Akshaya in lead

Madurai's S.S. Manigandan (5.5 pts) and Chennai's A. Akshaya (6 pts) kept their top positions intact after the sixth round of the 21st Tamil Nadu State under-17 chess championship at the Vivekananda Vidyalaya MHSS at Tirupur on Tuesday. Playing the French defence, Manigandan drew with Virudhunagar's Sakthivel Pandian in 30 moves, while Akshaya played a calculated game to oust J. Janani of Chennai in 41 moves.
