THALASSERY: Kannur was in command against Malappuram at the end of the first day's play in the North Zone under-19 inter-District cricket tournament at the Thalassery cricket stadium here on Thursday.

Kannur, after bundling out Malappuram for 137 runs, ended the day 92 for four.

At Perinthalmanna, Wayanad was in trouble against Kasaragod which scored a respectable total of 281 in its first innings. Wayand in reply was struggling at 54 for four at stumps.

The scores: Malappuram 137 (Praveen 44) vs. Kannur 92 for four; Kasaragod 281 (Mohammed Thasleem 82, Kiran Kumar 48, Mohd Azharudin 36, Vishnu Das three for 29) vs. Wayanad 54 for four .
