CHANDIGARH: Vijay Sundar Prashanth had a fruitful day as he won both his singles and doubles matches in the $10,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Monday.
Wild card Prashanth defeated Liang-Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the singles to start the day on a bright note. Later, he joined Mithun Murali to knock out the top-seeded Roman Jebavy and Adrian Sikora of the Slovak Republic 6-7(3), 6-3, 10-8.
Vivek Shokeen was the other Indian to move into the singles pre-quarterfinals as he got past Almog Mashiach of Israel 7-5, 7-6(2). He will meet the top-seeded Juan-Pablo Villar of Argentina in the second round.
