Bangalore: In a land associated with spin, seamers Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole are keen to leave a mark.

The duo, a key part of the England women’s team that is all set to lock horns with India in the coming days, believe that they can play an incisive role.

“The new ball does aid a bit of swing and seam and we will try and use that to our advantage,” said Katherine, who is a fan of former England fast bowler Darren Gough. Anya, meanwhile, said that she is aware of the lack of bounce in Indian pitches and knew that use of variations is critical to gain wickets.

Besides the need to strike in tandem, the two are also eager to see the day when women’s cricket will be on par with the men’s version. “We are getting faster and hopefully our winning results will get us the right rewards like a similar salary structure,” said Katherine. — Principal Correspondent
