CHANDIGARH: Rishika Sunkara knocked out the top-seeded Napatsakorn Sankaew of Thailand 6-3, 6-2 in the girls quarterfinals of the ITF junior grade ‘III’ tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded Rishika will meet the seventh-seeded Anastasiya Prenko of Turkmenistan in the semifinals.

The second-seeded Kyra Shroff knocked out the newly crowned national women’s grass court champion Ankita Raina in straight sets, to set up a semifinal meeting with the third-seeded Yang Zi of China.

In the boys’ section, Shahbaaz Khan beat the second-seeded Saurabh Singh in straight sets, to set up a semifinal against the third-seeded Mohit Mayur.

The other semifinal will feature the top-seeded Sumeet Shinde against the fourth-seeded Sai Kartik.

Under-18 boys: Sumeet Shinde bt Ronit 7-6(3), 6-4; Sai Kartik bt Ting Yu Chuang (Tpe) 6-1, 6-4; Mohit Mayur bt Rakshay Thakkar 6-4, 6-3; Shabaaz Khan bt Saurabh Singh 6-3, 6-4.
