Top seed Eetee Mehta booked a spot in the women’s singles semifinals of the JGI Stalwart AITA pro-circuit tennis championships with 6-2, 6-2 victory over Zainab Ali at KSLTA courts on Thursday.
In the men’s quarterfinals, former India Davis Cupper Vijay Kannan ended unseeded V. Vignesh’s run with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Vignesh had upset top seed Sourav Sukul of West Bengal in first round on Tuesday.

MSRIT posts win
Host M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) downed BIT by 53 runs in an M S Ramaiah memorial inter-engineering colleges cricket tournament on Thursday.
The scores: MSRIT 190 for six in 26 overs (S. Prajwal 66, Rahul Menon 44) bt BIT 137 for nine in 26 overs (H.S. Adarsh 59, B. Dhanush 32, Dabeet three for 20).
Khalin in lead
Khalin Joshi shot a two-under 70 here at the KGA course on Thursday to remain on top of the leaderboard in the Tata Steel Southern India amateur golf championships.
Joshi, who shot a course record 62 on Wednesday, has a comfortable eight-stroke lead over S. Chikkarangappa.

Inter-district volleyball
The inter-district volleyball championship for juniors and sub-juniors in both the boys and girls’ sections will be held at the Taluk Stadium in Jamkhandi (Bagalkot District) from Nov. 2 to 4.
The championship will be organised by the Bagalkot District Volleyball Association, under the auspicious of Karnataka Volleyball Association.
